Joyce Powell

Bible Teacher, Conference Speaker, Author, Songwriter

 

Joyce Powell married her teenage sweetheart, Dub, forty-nine years ago, and together they have nurtured three children, three in-law children and nine grandchildren. For most of her adult life she, along with her husband, has ministered through music—writing, playing piano and singing. This afforded her a variety of opportunities for service, from speaking at women’s conferences to witnessing on men’s death row in Huntsville, Texas. She has also appeared on weekly Sunday morning radio and local TV.

 

Joyce has organized and taught song-writing seminars. Additionally, for several years she wrote a monthly article in the U.S. Gospel News magazine. Although she has taught every age from four-year-olds to seniors in Sunday School and Bible Study situations, in her early thirties she realized that her favorite Bible Study setting included a small room with a group of women learning together about Jesus. It was during that time that the Lord began pouring poetry and song into her heart as He kindled a fire in her to write and teach. She began personal study and devotional writings while facilitating studies written by others. This, in turn, eventually led her to write much of her own study material which evolved into books of inspiration and devotion.
